Sutherlandia Overview

A genus of flowering evergreen shrubs in the legume family. They have tiny pinnate leaves and colourful pea-like flowers followed by unusual inflated fruits. S. frutescens is a commonly cultivated species from this genus. Hailing from South Africa, it is drought tolerant, fast growing and prefers a position in full sun. Can also be grown under glass in containers.
