Red-Hot Poker 'Nobilis Overview
Kniphofia 'Nobilis' is a vigorous evergreen perennial that forms a large clump of arching grass-like foliage. In summer it can produce spikes up to 2m tall of rich orange-red flowers that fade to yellow at the base. It grows best in a sandy soil that has been enriched with humus and will tolerate most deep well-draining soils. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. It has a longer flower stem compared to the species it was bred from (Kniphofia uvaria) and a longer flowering period, blooming from late summer through autumn.
