Common Rock Rose Overview

This plant is often found in the wild in Northern Europe. STEM: Many, woody below, low-growing or angled upwards. ROOT: Thick, woody stock, vertical tap-root. HAIRS: Sparse or short; dense, whitish beneath leaves. STIPULES: Present, narrowly spear-shaped. LEAF-STALK: Much shorter than blade. BRACTS: Narrowly spear-shaped. FLOWER STALK: About equaling flower. SEPALS: 5, 2 slender, 3 oval. PETALS: 5, equal, oval, crumpled, soon falling. STAMENS: Numerous, moving apart when touched. STIGMA: 1, 3-lobed on S-shaped style. OVARY: 1, 1-celled SEEDS: Many, egg-shaped.
