Barrenwort Overview

This is a clump forming evergreen, rhizomatous perennial with leaves divided into 3, occasionally 5. The leaves are copper when young, becoming fresh green later. Pale to deep yellow flowers, with curved yellow spurs, are produced from mid-spring to early summer.
