Larkspur Overview

Delphinium ajacis is an attractive annual plant which is also commonly known by the names giant larkspur and larkspur. This common name Larkspur is also shared with many other related and unrelated plants. Typically growing to around a metre in height, this species produces feathery foliage and colourful flowers in shades of blue, pink, white and a bicoloured blue and pink. It has an upright habit and is hardy down to -20 degrees Celcius, plant in a position of full sun, in well-draining soil for optimal growth. This species is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen. A great choice for encouraging pollinating insect wildlife into your garden!
