Anchusa azurea 'Loddon Royalist' is a herbaceous perennial cultivar in the borage family, Boraginaceae. It produces sturdy stems of deep blue summer flowers appear in early summer which turn more purple with age. This large blue alkanet makes a striking and long-lasting statement in a sunny border and does not need staking. This cultivar is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen.
