Genus with over 60 perennial, mostly evergreen species grown mainly for their foliage and button-like, often yellow, sometimes white flowers. Some species grow on the edges of water and many in this genus are considered invasive. Species in this genus are similar in morphology, distinguishable only by their flowers, which lack ray florets and grow on solitary stems.
