Ironweed Overview

A large and widespread genus of over 670 flowering shrubs, trees, climbers and annual and perennial herbaceous plants in the daisy family. Many members are cultivated as leaf vegetables in several West and Central African countries. Garden cultivars are generally the herbaceous type grown for their tall upright habit and flat-topped clusters of purple-brown flowers. Known as Ironweeds.
