Garden Anemone Overview
Anemone coronaria is a spring-flowering tuberous perennial that produces multiple poppy-like flowers on tall flower stalks. They come in many colours and two forms, single or double and add a kaleidoscope of colour to any partly sunny garden during late winter and early spring. Also known as Garden Anemone, Irish Anemon, Poppy Windflower and St Brigid's Anemone among others, these sun-loving plants prefer a sheltered spot with well-drained soil making them ideal to grow in containers, Rock and Mediterranean climate gardens. This is the most commonly planted Anemone, with a variety of cultivars. 'St. Brigid' and 'de Caen' are two types most commonly found commercially.
