Flaming Torch Bromeliad Overview

This bromeliad, native to northern South America and parts of the Caribbean, has a large red brush-shaped flower that is tipped with violet. It is not a long-lived inflorescence, but can provide a welcome splash of colour in shaded areas. Like in many bromeliad species, the rosette of strap-like leaves collect rainwater and nutrients.
