Yellow Buckeye Overview
Aesculus flava is a big, deciduous tree species in the Sapindaceae family. It produces elegant tapering leaves divided into between 5-7 leaflets, which display attractive autumn colouration, turning red-yellow. It produces showy, upright yellow flowers, leading onto smooth rounded green fruits, these usually contain two brown nuts. This plant develops a spreading crown, it has a bushy habit and is hardy to -15 degrees Celsius, plant in a position of full or partial sun, in moist, well-draining soil for optimal growth. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
