Pineapple Flower Overview
The genus Eucomis is termed Pineapple Flower or Pineapple Lily after their flower appearance, it has around 11 hardy, bulbous perennials. They are grown for their star-shaped flowers, which are produced abundantly on thick-stemmed, vertical inflorescences with a top of leafy bracts, similar to those produced at the top of pineapples. Colours commonly seen are pastel pinks, yellows and white, ranging to deep purple flowers. Popular as ornamental plants, this genus contains many hybrids and cultivars, some of which have bicoloured flowers.
