Egyptian Stars Overview
Pentas is a genus, native to parts of the Arabian peninsula, Africa, Madagascar and islands in the Western Indian Ocean is in the Rubiaceae (coffee) family. Some species are commonly cultivated, such as Pentas lanceolata and its cultivars, grown for its star-shaped flowers in shades of white, red and pink, that attract butterflies. This species is tolerant of full sun and drought, and are popular as container and hanging basket plants.
