Rattles Overview

Plants in the genus Rhinanthus are also generally known as Rattles. This genus has around 35 annual herbaceous species which glean nutrition from other living plants using modified roots. Originating from Europe, Northern Asia and North America, most species are found in Europe. They produce characteristic pea-like, yellow flowers which are surrounded by papery modified leaves with serrate toothed edges.
