Hair-grass Overview
A genus of around 50 species of annual or perennial grasses in the Poaceae family with a wide distribution on all continents except Antarctica and on some oceanic islands. They characteristically have compact tufts or clumps of grass-like leaves and panicles of silvery flowers in Summer. The genus includes species commonly known as Junegrasses. Cultivated species thrive in shallow chalky soil.
