Genus of around 50 evergreen shrubs and trees from woodland habitats, commonly referred to as raintrees. They are cultivated for their big, tubular flowers with 5 wide petals, which are coloured in a range of purple and blue shades and also white. Some species in this genus are cultivated to produce tricolour blooms and improved resistance to drought.
