Water Plantain Overview
A genus of 11 species of aquatic rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plants in the Alismataceae family with a wide distribution in wetland habitats worldwide. Known commonly as water-plantains, some species are cultivated as pond marginal specimens for their attractive rosettes of elliptic leaves held atop long stalks and whorls of delicate white or pink flowers in Spring.
