Snowdrops Overview
Galanthus is a genus of dwarf bulbous perennials in the Amaryllidaceae family, native to Europe and the Middle East, comprising 21 accepted species. They are also widely naturalised due to their popularity as cultivated garden flowers. Commonly known as Snowdrops, members of this genus have strap-shaped leaves and nodding white flowers, consisting of three outer tepals and three inner ones. Many varieties, cultivars and hybrids are available which have been bred for a diverse range of flower shapes and green markings.
