Boophone Overview
Small genus with just 2 herbaceous, bulbous, perennial plants distributed across South Africa. They are adapted to dry conditions and can tolerate drought. Foliage is leathery, stiff and tends to undulate along the edges. Flowers are typically arranged in spherical inflorescences, coloured pink-red and this genus is notably poisonous, both the leaves and the bulb.
