Gentian Overview

Genus with around 360 hardy, evergreen or semi-evergreen, annual, biennial or perennial plants that produce blue, trumpet-shaped flowers. Sometimes red, white or yellow blooms are seen, but blue is most common. These species are well suited to growing in rock gardens.

Propagate by division or offshoots in spring. Divide autumn flowering species and G.clusii every 3 years in early spring and replant in fresh soil.
