Toad Lily Overview
Tricyrtis formosana is an upright, rhizomatous perennial in the lily family, Liliaceae. It has an upright, clumping habit and typically grows to around 80cm in height. Leaves are glossy green, lance-shaped and showy flowers are produced in loose clusters. Commonly known by the names Toad Lily or Japanese Toad Lily. It is hardy to -15 degrees Celsius, plant in a position of partial sun or full shade, in moist, well-draining soil for optimal growth. The flowers are star-shaped and coloured mainly white, with attractive purple spotting across the entire surface, with yellow centres, measuring around 2.5cm across. Typically grows to just under a metre in height.
