About the garden

The Somerset West Village Garden (SWVG) was established as a community project to grow and provide vegetables for the unemployed people of Somerset West.

The purpose of the SWVG is multifaceted in that garden will provide the opportunity for the unemployed to gain an accredited set of skills in vegetable gardening, serve as an educational resource on small scale organic food production in the Somerset West community as well increase access to nutritious vegetables for the community as the produce from the garden will supply the Somerset West Street People's Center.

Dropped off my bokashi here (I don't have a place to compost) and was met by a very pleasant gentleman who not only emptied my bin but insisted on washing it for me too! They have a market on Tuesdays to sell their produce.

What a great initiative! Please support the community gardens. They sell organic veg every Tuesday from 9-11am

Amazing project! Currently only open for sales on Tuesday mornings due to Covid19, but please support this incredible cause! Highly recommend!
