We didn't have the time to visit the grounds and inclement weather, but the house itself was very well presented. There was definitely something for everyone - stately home lovers, Ann Lister admirers, Gentleman Jack fans... Some rooms are faithfully recreated, others are in their original condition - all are fascinating in their own right. The visit represents a very good use of £8 for entry.

A very interesting house and buildings with lots of information about the history and occupants of the Hall through the years, focusing on Anne Lister, the inspiration for the "Gentleman Jack" TV series, which was filmed there. The park and grounds are also worth a visit, with something for everyone. Our party was aged from 28 months to 77 years and we all had a lovely few hours.

This exceeded our expectations, there is so much to see. The guides are helpful and informative. Thoroughly enjoyed the time there. There is a park too but too cold to partake today. We booked online for a timed entry. Highly recommended especially as series 2 of Gentleman Jack is about to start.

First time we have visited. Brilliant find after living only 6 miles away for 10 years and visit many National trust houses. What a wonderful place, fantastic value and a small coffee shop. Will definitely go again as we ran out of time. Sat nav a little difficult , large painted signs would be useful.
