About the garden

Feast your eyes on this visual treat. Situated on a 10-acre site in the Steenberg area of Cape Town, 3D installations by African artists are dotted across freshwater wetland and surrounded by beautiful indigenous flora. The natural scenery of Western Cape provides a stunning backdrop.

Spot abstract artworks poking out from behind vegetation, discover brightly coloured pieces around different corners and be inspired by immense creations against the greenery. The Sculpture Garden subtly connects to the Norval Foundation building – a modern work of art in itself; inside you can see a range of permanent and changing exhibitions and collections as well as glorious views of the serene wetland, vineyards and mountains beyond.

Visitors can explore the museum as well as take a self-guided audio tour of the Sculpture Garden. A trip wouldn’t be complete without a delicious locally sourced meal in the acclaimed Skotnes Restaurant while the children enjoy the playground.

Beautiful art gallery/museum. Arrived there when a exhibition called when rain clouds gather was on. It reminded me of my varsity days. Beautiful works on display. The highlight for me was the sculpture garden. The most beautiful was the one made out of rocks! But who am I kidding, they were all beautiful. There was even a sound installation, giving you those Rosswell vibes!

Wow! What an awesome n enriched cultural experience for our learners of Manenberg, whose not exposed to this type of calmness. It was an experience that will last with them for a long time. It really bears testimony to the fact that our environment does have an impact on our behaviour. They were in awe as to what they saw around them. Thank you very much. Easter Peak Primary School.

The Museum is not far from town and is not expensive (I got my annual card for less than 300R), surprisingly it wasn't too crowded for a Saturday. I enjoyed the visit but, I was expecting to see more contemporary paintings. It was still interesting to see all the sides of the museum. The part that I enjoyed the most was the garden outside with the different sculptures. It's worth it :)

The owner has made two statements here...a belief in our country and a salute to local art. Excellent food in a lovely setting. Well done!

This is the only art gallery in Cape Town I find myself coming back to everytime they have a new exhibit. The staff is so amazing and the art is phenomenal. I love how they focus more on promoting black South africans too. The restaurant is beautiful too, the food is not too bad.
