About the garden

Feast your eyes on this visual treat. Situated on a 10-acre site in the Steenberg area of Cape Town, 3D installations by African artists are dotted across freshwater wetland and surrounded by beautiful indigenous flora. The natural scenery of Western Cape provides a stunning backdrop.

Spot abstract artworks poking out from behind vegetation, discover brightly coloured pieces around different corners and be inspired by immense creations against the greenery. The Sculpture Garden subtly connects to the Norval Foundation building – a modern work of art in itself; inside you can see a range of permanent and changing exhibitions and collections as well as glorious views of the serene wetland, vineyards and mountains beyond.

Visitors can explore the museum as well as take a self-guided audio tour of the Sculpture Garden. A trip wouldn’t be complete without a delicious locally sourced meal in the acclaimed Skotnes Restaurant while the children enjoy the playground.

We went through a walk in their magnificent garden. It feels as though you can get lost in this lovely, indigenous garden where the art pieces greet you as you make your way through. Their restaurant has good coffee and we would certainly recommend the Norval Foundation for a unique experience. The art inside is also something to write home about! Take yourself on a well-deserved outing and relax.

Regular exhibitions in the art gallery. A bar and open plan restaurant with panoramic views and outdoor seating. Pay for your parking ticket at the indoor kiosk or add it to your tab if you have a meal. Good food, wines and freshly squeezed juices available.

This place is a wonderful place to spend time with friends and family. The exhibitions are interesting and very well edited. I suggest a yearly pass, it’s cheap and you’ll definitely want to come back, either for the art , the garden or the food.
