We stayed at the Dovecote cottage and absolutely loved it. It made for a perfect base camp for visiting friends and family. The cottage is nicely appointed and very comfortable. Beautiful grounds and gardens and a short walk to the local pub that serves good food.

Friendly and tidy Gardens. The Snowdrop walk was perhaps a little limited and the spring planting not very imaginative. The staff were amiable and knowledgeable. There was limited refreshments available Only just value for money.

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! We had a wonderful 7 night stay at The Granary over the Xmas week. (22-29 Dec 2021) This was a big family Xmas get together and we were not disappointed. The Granary is fantastically well appointed, each bedroom having its own en-suite and with plenty of room for everyone. Most bedrooms also have their own TV. The living room is comfortable and includes a log burner, although we only fired it up once as the accommodation seems to be well insulated and did not feel cold. We had some slight reservations about the kitchen before arrival, knowing we had to cook Xmas dinner for 11 and to store lots of food and drink, but we really shouldn’t have worried. The kitchen is very well stocked with all the expected stuff and there is a double height fridge, an under counter fridge and a stand-alone freezer, so plenty of room for your chilled food. There was a lovely welcome pack and the living room was nicely decorated for the festive season. The swimming pool was a nice addition, although it was a little cooler than was expected (not uncomfortably so though), so we made really good use of it. The Wifi worked well enough and we were able to hook up a number of mobiles and a kindle fire stick for evening movies. A walk around the grounds was lovely, although we may return in spring/summer to really enjoy it. The hosts were also really helpful and friendly, and remained completely unobtrusive but available for when we needed them. The Miners Arms in Carsington is well worth a visit for food, and is literally only a 5 minute walk, but booking is advised. On the whole we had a fantastic stay and wouldn’t hesitate recommending The Granary for those larger gatherings

Lovely gardens and woodland walks to see snowdrops but not open this year due to Covid 19. Open again February 1st to March 1st 2022. Worth a visit as lovely snowdrops and walks. Take out hot and cold drinks plus homemade scones and cakes served at back of the house. Friendly staff. Will want to return in summer to see rose gardens. If near closing time , exit gate closed but it doesn't warn you that it opens automatically inwards towards vehicles.

We stayed in The Granary for 3 nights. It is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. Six adults, two toddlers, a four year old and a six year old. There should have been at least two more adults but covid prevented their attendance. There really is plenty space for 14. I was particularly impressed with the heating. A cold, wet weekend at the end of May and everywhere heated up quickly and stayed warm. The pool was chilly but we enjoyed 45 mins in there. Beautiful grounds to explore. Thoroughly recommend Hopton Hall.
