About the garden

Discover ornamental grounds, peaceful woodland, meandering waterways and picturesque glens at Northern Ireland's royal residence.

Hillsborough Castle gardens offer unique features which include a Walled Garden, Yew Tree Walk, Moss Walk, the Lake and Lady Alice's Temple.

The historic gardens, which were developed from the 1760s onwards, offer intriguing contrasts between ornate formal gardens, woodland and meadows.

Keep an eye out for specimen trees and rare plants as you explore the grounds.

These special gardens are a delight to the senses throughout the seasons and offer countless places to unwind, contemplate, socialise and seek inspiration.

We were exceptionally disappointed to see that the gift shop had absolutely no merchandise available to celebrate the Queen's platinum jubilee. Not even a tea towel! Also, when we went to pay for a fridge magnet we were asked to use a credit/debit card as they do not accept cash!! Get yourselves sorted! We should be excited to celebrate such a momentous occasion!
