Purple Leaved Plum Overview

Prunus cerasifera 'Nigra' is a deciduous tree cultivar from the Rosaceae family. It has an upright habit and forms a rounded shape. Grown for the foliage and the flowers, this cultivar produces attractive dark purple-red leaves and stems. The flowers are pale pink in colour, opening from darker pink buds, appearing before the leaves in early spring. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
