Clematis 'Kakio' (EL) Overview

Clematis 'Kakio' also known as C. 'Pink Champagne' is an early and large flowering, deciduous Clematis cultivar. It is a vigorous, medium-sized climber that produces single, starry flowers measuring between 12-16cm across, this occurs from late spring to late summer. Flowers have vivid pink-purple sepals with a central lighter bar and yellow stamens in the centre. Sepals strongly resemble petals but with a protective rather than decorative function, there are typically 6-10. Occasionally a second flush of flowers appears in late summer. This species is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen. A great choice for pollinating insect wildlife!
