Rushfoil Overview

Croton is a large genus with over 1,200 shrubs or trees and some herbaceous species. Most species are monoecious and thus produce male and female flowers on the same plant. However some species in this genus are dioecious (producing male and female flowers on individual plants). Foliage is variable in size and shape across species and arranged alternately in most, with some having opposite or whorled arrangements and flowers are produced on spikes or racemes. In dioecious species, many male flowers tend to be produced above a lower number of female flowers. The flowers have small petals and many stamens, coloured white-yellow or green-yellow.
