About the garden

With a historic house to explore, award-winning gardens to admire, a renowned adventure playground for children and a woodland oasis to wander through, there’s something for all the family at Bowood in Wiltshire. The Grade I listed country abode has been home to the Lansdowne Family since 1754.

Surrounding it are 100 acres of stunning grounds, and gardens designed by Capability Brown in the 18th century. Watch vivid Tulips bloom in the Italian-inspired Terrace Gardens in spring, see the 70ft long herbaceous border radiate colour throughout the year and take an exclusive tour of the remarkable Private Walled Garden. You won’t want to miss the spectacular 30-acre Woodland Gardens, open for six weeks only during the flowering season, covered in a breathtaking carpet of Bluebells and sprinkled with beautiful Azaleas, Rhododendrons and Magnolias.

Complete your day with an ice cream from the Kiosk or a tasty light bite from the Treehouse Café while the kids play on the life-size pirate ship and Wiltshire’s most famous slide.

Excellent and well worth a visit. Setting is wonderful, staff so helpful and friendly. Please pass on these comments to the Marquis and his dedicated team. One of the best stately homes I've visited

Lovely place that is an independent stately home. The walk outside had gorgeous views and long sprawling hills and interesting vistas through trees. We were very surprised to see so many Canadian geese on the lawn! The house inside is thoughtfully laid out in a route which shows you principal rooms as well as informative panels describing the history of the house and the financial toll history has taken on it. We will continue to visit it to contribute to the upkeep of a piece of history. Thank you for a lovely day.

Absolutely loved it. First time we've been bk after lockdown. My 9 year old son had a great time playing. And I had a catch up with mum and dad. Season ticket holders now. We will be bk.

The house was closed. However the grounds are lovely to walk around. There is a good cafe and Ben he's to sit on. There is a great kids outdoor play park.
