About the garden

At Bourton House, wide herbaceous borders are paired with lush terraces to create stunning texture and colour combinations. There are inventive topiary gardens, including a parterre, knot garden and topiary walk and water features fed by a spring on the site, which include an historic raised basket pond which dates back to the Great Exhibition. Elsewhere, a tranquil White Garden, characterful Shade House and 18th century walk provide an engaging way to pass your time at this site, which has a wide variety of features spread out across the 3 acres of garden and relatively new 7 acre field, with groups of specimen trees.

A feast for the senses in every season, Bourton House Garden is particularly resplendent in late summer, at a time when many gardens have run their course and it continues getting better into the end of September or even the start of October.

A lovely garden. The White border was beautiful and the hot border stunning. Will become regular visitors now that we have discovered it

This is a beautiful garden that we have visited several times. Easy to find with plenty of free parking and a beautiful ancient barn that doubles as a cafe & shop area. The gardens are a tribute to the small team of gardeners who care for them and there is plenty to see at all times of the year. Well worth a visit if you love plants and want a relaxing stroll in beautiful surroundings.

One of the best gardens we have ever seen. It was my 2nd time in a year as I took my mum. We visit a lot of gardens as we're National Trust members, but this beats all.
