Poached Egg Plant Overview
Limnanthes douglasii is a bushy annual species from the Limnanthaceae family. This plant typically grows to around 15cm tall, producing bowl-shaped, white and yellow petalled flowers with yellow centres, hence the common name Poached Egg Plant. Flower colour can vary across subspecies, there is an attractive pure white-flowered plant that appears similar. It is a popular ornamental plant, found growing naturally from Oregon to California. It has a low-growing, spreading habit, forming a mat of green foliage covered with cheerful bright flowers. Grow along pathways or edges of beds, or near tall plants like Sweetcorn or Tomatoes. This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
