Apple-Scented Geranium Overview

This perennial, spreading pelargonium species has good antibacterial activity and can be use for cosmetic, culinary, craft and aromatic preservatives. The leaves are highly aromatic making it a good addition to a scented garden.

Susceptible to aphids and whitefly, control with organic insecticides and encourage natural predators like lady bugs

How to harvest Apple-Scented Geranium

Leaves and flowers for culinary purposes can be harvested anytime during the growing season. Harvesting leaves and shoots for oils takes place 3 to 4 times per year.

How to propagate Apple-Scented Geranium


Take cuttings after flowering and seeding is completed, use 15cm semi-mature shoots and rooting hormone, rooting take about 3 weeks.


Sow seed in early spring in well drained, light potting mix, spread seeds out evenly, cover with sand or finely milled bark, water well, place in lightly shaded area. Germination takes about 4 weeks.
