Saucer Magnolia Overview
Magnolia × soulangeana is a deciduous tree from the Magnoliaceae family. Grown for the globlet-shaped, spring blooms, this plant has a spreading habit, growing to 6m in height. Commonly known by the names Saucer Magnolia and Chinese Magnolia. Leaves are oval in shape and measure up to 20cm in length. Flowers appear from early spring well before the leaves, making a striking display. The flowers may be pink, white or purple in colour, measuring up to 25cm in diameter. Grow in full sun to partial shade and moist, well-draining soil.
