Viper's grass Overview
Genus containing just under 200 species in the daisy family, Asteraceae, with clumping habits. These are found across Europe, Asia and Africa with most species located in the Mediterranean. They produce yellow or pink-white, daisy-like flowers with many petals. This genus contains the well-known edible species, Scorzonera hispanica, commonly known as black salsify and another species is used to produce natural rubber.
