Aeonium 'Zwartkop' Overview
Aeonium 'Zwartkop' is an evergreen perennial cultivar in the Crassulaceae family. This succulent plant produces glossy, lobed, purple-black leaves arranged in rosettes on long stems. It has an open habit and can grow up to 1.5m in just a few years. Flowers are star-like, yellow and borne on large panicles (branched stems). Flowers nearer the base are older, new flowers are produced from the growing tip at the top. They appear in the spring. It is a striking and unusual addition to a summer patio that adds a sub-tropical feel - or it can be grown year-round, in a warm conservatory. To thrive, Aeoniums need a sheltered position in full sun and well-drained soil. When in growth, water moderately and feed every few weeks (using a balanced liquid feed). When dormant, do not water or feed. Aeonium 'Zwartkop' has earned an RHS 'Award of Garden Merit'.
