Norway Maple Overview
Acer platanoides is a large, vigorous, deciduous tree with a rounded, open crown and spreading branches. Its deeply-lobed, dark green leaves that end in slender, pointed teeth, turn bright yellow, orange or brown in autumn. Clusters of scented, yellow flowers appear in spring, followed by winged fruits, characteristic of acers. Known also as Norway Maple or Plane-Leaved Maple, Acer platanoides is planted in large gardens, parkland and used as a street tree, due it's low maintenance and architectural qualities. It can withstand an exposed site and tolerates most soil types if fertile, moist and well drained. It likes a sunny or partially shaded site.
