Chenille Plant Overview
Acalypha hispida is an evergreen shrub in the Euphorbiaceae family. Originating from the Bismarck Archipelago, it can grow to a height of 2.5 metres. This is a tall-growing upright, evergreen, upright shrub grown for its foliage and long red, fluffy, pendulous flowers. It produces large leaves and fluffy pinky-red catkin flowerheads throughout the year. The leaves are oval and bright green to reddish-bronze. The pink-red flowers will appear intermittently throughout the year. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
