Soapwort Overview
Saponaria is a genus of around 41 herbaceous or sometimes woody annual or perennial plants from the Caryophyllaceae family, originating from Europe and Asia. These plants are commonly called Soapwort. Cultivated species include Saponaria officianalis which has become naturalised through garden introductions worldwide. Soapwort are grown for their attractive clusters of purple or pink flowers in summer.
