Jacaranda

Jacaranda Overview

The genus Jacaranda comprises about 50 species of evergreen or deciduous shrubs and trees in the Bignoniaceae family, originating from Central and South America, and parts of the Caribbean. They are found in tropical and subtropical regions. Several species have been widely cultivated and are naturalised in many parts of the world. Jacaranda plants typically have pinnately-divided leaves and large panicles of intense purple-blue flowers. They are frost-tender and in colder climates are often grown as container specimens that can be protected in winter, or as street trees in warmer climates.
