Little Living Tree Overview

Biophytum sensitivum is an annual herbaceous plant in the Oxalidaceae family. Originating from tropical and subtropical Asia, this plant produces fascinating, delicate foliage, which is arranged on a stout stem in a single rosette. Leaves measure between 3-13cm in length and they are divided into leaflets which fold downwards towards the ground. Flowers are yellow, white or pink-purple, they are 5 petalled and lead onto dry fruits that split to release their seeds. This plant is termed sensitive as the leaves moves rapidly in response to touch, similar to the sensitive plant Mimosa pudica.
