Bleeding Heart Overview

Lamprocapnos is a monotypic genus of rhizomatous, perennial flowering plants in the Papaveraceae family. They are native to Siberia and parts of the Far East. The single species in this genus, L. spectabilis is historically known by the name Dicentra spectabilis, or bleeding heart. It is grown for its divided, feathery leaves and attractive arching stems carrying heart-shaped pendant pink or white flowers in spring.
