Lily-of-the-field Overview

A genus of Spring or Autumn flowering bulbous perennials cultivated for their crocus-like flowers. They originate from Eurasia and North Africa and are in the Amaryllis family. S. lutea has become naturalised in many regions where they have escaped cultivation. They are happiest in a sheltered position on well-drained soil and are also grown in alpine houses.
