Chameleon Plant Overview
A monotypic genus of rhizomatous perennial flowering plants in the Saururaceae family native to Southeast Asia. The single species, Houttuynia cordata, is cultivated for its red-edged heart-shaped leaves and tiny yellow flower spikes subtended by showy white bracts. They are tolerant of most garden soils and aspects but can become invasive in damp areas. Best grown in a container to restrict its spread.
