Garden Speedwell Overview
Veronica longifolia is also commonly known as garden speedwell. It is a herbaceous perennial with an upright habit. Typically it grows to just over a metre in height, producing densely packed spikes of small, tubular purple-blue blooms from late summer through to early autumn. Foliage is narrow and arranged in pairs or groups of 3 up stems, leaves are lance-shaped. This plant is deciduous and thus loses its green foliage in the autumn and regrows new leaves in the spring. Grows well in full sunlight or partially shaded conditions and well-draining soil.
