Carrion Flower Overview
Stapelia nobilis is a spineless, evergreen perennial succulent from the Apocynaceae family. It forms 4-angled, upright, toothed stems and also known by the names Starfish Flower and Carrion Flower. Edges of the stems may produce small, ephemeral leaves and are often indented. This plant doesn't typically exceed 20cm in height. It is grown for the succulent stems and large, showy, star-shaped, foul-scented, patterned, textured, hairy, deep red-purple blooms. Giant Stapelia tends to grow in clumps, branching near the base and is a popular houseplant. It may be planted outside in rockeries in warm climates.
