    Western Red Cedar Overview

Thuja plicata is also known as Western Red Cedar. It is a hardy, vigorous, evergreen tree from the Cupressaceae family. This tree forms a pyramid shape, growing up to 35m tall, producing attractive scale-like leaves. The leaves are pointed and aromatic, borne on spreading branches with a drooping habit, turning upwards at the tips. Egg-shaped, brown cones measuring around 1.3cm in length are also produced. Grow in full sun to partial shade, in moist, well-draining soil.
