Flaming Sword Overview
Lutheria splendens was previously well known as Vriesea splendens. It is a striking evergreen perennial plant from the Bromeliaceae family. It produces rosettes of strap-shaped, colourful foliage measuring approximately 60cm in length. Leaves are grey-green in colour and strongly banded with dark green to red-brown colourations. Commonly known by the name Flaming Sword, this plant is a popular houseplant. Flowers are borne on erect spikes, these are tubular, coloured yellow and surrounded by showy red modified leaves known as bracts.
