It would be hard to think of a lovelier or more perfect place to spend a weekend of making and being than at Wildekrans. There is the landscape and walks, the history, the generous spaces and delicious food, the truly wonderful staff. But then also, the surprise of art placed quietly through the gardens and interiors, and not least, the pleasure of Alison and Barrie themselves. I can't imagine not loving it, and not leaving restored and awakened. A treat from start to end.

The guest house itself is gorgeous. We stayed in the garden room which had a magnificent view and is big. The garden is a wonderful rambly big thing - so relaxing and pretty to walk around. And the ability to walk through neighbours farms or directly up on the mountain and its trails is fantastic. The hosts and the staff were also excellent. I highly recommend it. (Only two gripes: You can hear the traffic on the highway a bit though, and a belt of the mountainside you can see from the guest house is full of alien vegetation which would be wonderful if it was cleared so the fynbos could grow there instead)

Everything about Wildekrans is absolutely wonderful. We did and art workshop there and it is the perfect setting for creative thinking with wonderful meals and the most comfortable bed I have slept in in years. The combination of heritage architecture that is centuries old with modern comfort is hard to beat!!

My wife and I shared the cottage at Wildekrans Country Lodge with friends for a wedding weekend in Houw Hoek. What an absolutely lovely experience and cottage. I would highly recommend this location for a getaway weekend to explore the Elgin or Botriver wine areas or hiking/walking to get outs of the city. Alison and here team where so accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate in rerunning or booing again.
