The Wilds Nature Reserve is a piece of natural Heaven in the midst of the concrete jungle that is Johannesburg. Ample parking and they still follow COVID protocols, as in temperature checks and recording of names. An amazingly beautiful serene nature reserve with various path options to take depending on your fitness level and that of your beloved pet, either in the East or Western part. Quiet time in nature as you sit on one of the various benches scattered around or grab your blanket and just chill on lush green grass. So many interesting spots to see and relax at whilst enjoying nature’s sounds and look out for the 67 Owls in the trees above and around you. In essence it’s FREE entry and a great place to relax, chill or have an amazing walk. As always BE SAFE & AWARE of your surroundings!!!

What a pleasant surprise! We were quite uncertain whether it would be worth visiting a ‘free entry’ park bordering some of Jo’burg’s most questionable areas… But we have discovered a hidden gem, for sure! The reserve is beautifully maintained; a truly peaceful haven in the city. It was really refreshing that there was no litter lying around and the pathways are well kept. There are many benches available throughout the park and the high-lying areas offer great views over the city. Would definitely recommend a visit. (The loos are not great… but as far as public toilets in open parks go, they are usable and in working condition, with toilet paper available, so it’s not actually that bad.) The car park is also clean and watched over by a friendly, attentive security guard. Big thumbs up there too.

Extremely relaxing! Beware though there's a lot of up hill! It's so peaceful. Some ponds are sort of dry but there are a few with water. The view is absolutely amazing and they have very beautiful plants and trees in this reserve unlike some places!

It's quite picturesque, serene and clean. What a breath of fresh air. If you're looking for somewhere to unwind and be one with nature, this is the perfect place for you. The best part is that it's totally free of charge!

A beautiful and relaxing place to spend an afternoon walking around. Don’t be deceived by the name though, it’s definitely not a wild place at all! It’s more of a botanical garden, with cultivated gardens and lawns all around on the one side of the park. That’s the part where I was. The other side of the park (separated by a road) is the wilder section, more natural and untamed, though I can’t comment on that side (yet). Would definitely recommend for a summer afternoon (and it’s mostly shady because it’s covered with trees, so that’s nice too), for a hike or even a calm walk around.
